Illinois Society for International Development (ISID)

The Illinois Society for International Development (ISID) promotes awareness of international development issues in Illinois and encourages networking and discussion.

ISID is one of 60 chapters of the Society for International Development (SID), a global network supporting “people-centered sustainable development,” with over 3,000 members in 125 countries.

ISID’s objectives are:

  • To provide a forum for a dialogue of ideas and experience from varied viewpoints on matters relating to local, national and global development.
  • To promote participatory research and learning in international development.
  • To actively encourage solutions to local, national and international development problems.
  • To create a general awareness in the public at large of the complexities and depth of the current concerns with development.

ISID organizes events monthly, the second Tuesday of every month, focusing on international development issues. Events may include speakers, panel discussions, social events, planning meetings and networking opportunities. Information about events and opportunities related to international development is distributed through the ISID listserve.

To receive information about upcoming events regularly, subscribe to the listserve by writing “subscribe” to: ISID-subscribe@topica.com. Please visit our website at www.isidonline.org.
