African Women in America is an organization of women with an urgent mission which includes education, action and advocacy for the human rights and cultural issues facing African children and women in Africa and America. The organization is a united body and voice, whose efforts are directed toward working with African governments and community leaders, and synergizing efforts with existing organizations that provide support and work toward sustainable solutions to the most critical needs, human rights and social justice issues facing African women and children.

AFWIAM is dedicated also to tackling some of the long standing cultural practices that have been oppressive and have perpetuated violence and cultural injustices against African women and children.
