Welcome to the Donor's Guide to Chicago's Global Resources, a Chicago Community Trust (CCT) funded database designed to identify Chicago-based organizations working on projects of interest to globally-minded donors. Many Chicago donors have international philanthropic interests but are unaware of the depth and diversity of local institutions with ongoing projects of global significance.

A gift to a Chicago organization is a bonus for a local donor. It

  • supports specific projects reflecting global concerns,
  • reinforces the increasingly global nature of the city of Chicago.

Searching

  • Use the boxes in the drop down menu to select a geographic region or country and/or a specific issue.
  • Alphabetical listings are available under the Programs and Organizations pages.
  • View all programs offered by an organization by clicking the organization name.
  • For details on specific needs and projects, donors should directly contact organizations.

Criteria

This database is meant for research purposes. Donations cannot be made to organizations through this database.

Many worthwhile organizations with local offices in Chicago that are not based in the city are not included in this database at this time. Our goal is to highlight those organizations based in the Chicago-metropolitan area.

Organizations included in this directory have been asked to confirm their 501(c)3 status, however, no formal evaluation of these organizations has been conducted. Further information about giving to these organizations, including questions to consider and how donors can conduct relevant research, is included in a Frequently Asked Questions section.

Feedback

Donors are encouraged to provide feedback about organizations that should be added to the directory, about the currently listed projects, and any other helpful information that will enhance the site.

Sponsors

Local Giving, Global Impact is grateful to the Chicago Community Trust, the Chicago Global Donors Network, The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and the Global Philanthropy Partnership for their roles in creating this important project.
