Jennifer Arnold, Director and Producer, A Small Act
Patti Lee, Producer, A Small Act
Join The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and HBO for a film screening and discussion of the new HBO documentary, A Small Act. When Hilde Back sponsored a young student living in rural Kenya, she thought nothing of it and never expected to hear from him. But years later, she did. That student, Chris Mburu – now a Harvard graduate and human rights officer for the UN – decided to find the stranger who changed his life. Inspired by her generosity, he started a scholarship program which gives a new generation of Kenyan students hope of affording an education. With clarity and grace, A Small Act bears witness to the ripple effect one singular action can have. A Sundance Film Festival selection, A Small Act will make its HBO television premiere on July 12th. Following the screening, a question and answer session will take place with filmmakers Jennifer Arnold and Patti Lee.
